$10 paid in cash at the door (must pre-register)
Registration
All entries must be submitted by Thursday July 18.
No entries will be accepted after 18 July. There will be no entries the day of the tournament. Entry fees will be received that day, but no late entries will be accepted. We need exact numbers and knowledge of who is playing ahead of time.
Please arrive by 9:30 so we will not have to rush to start on time.
Eligibility
Must be a resident of NC and age 65 or older. Also, must be a member of the NC Chess Association (if not a member then you may pay $10 in cash for membership before play begins). Note that a nonmember will be paying a total of $20 for membership and to participate.
Format
Three Rounds G/60;d5
Round Times: Rd 1: 10:00 | Rd 2: 12:40 | Rd 3: 3:15
Please arrive by 9:30 so we will not have to rush to start on time.
Three Sections
OPEN (for players 1600 and over) a player may play up if they are within 100 points of cut off.
U1600 (for players rated 1300 - 1599) a player may play up if they are within 100 points of cut off.
U1300 (for players under 1300).
Extra Section (for anyone between 50 and 65 who just wants to play some rated chess games and possibly play against a Super Senior in an Extra Game if someone is forced to take a bye). Note there are no prizes for this section.
July Supplements will be used. Tournament Director may revise sections depending upon registration numbers.
Food
Pizza and drinks will be provided (for free) between first and second rounds.
T-Shirts
If you wish to purchase a Super Senior T-Shirt you must do so by placing your order in ahead of time. Payment will be collected the day of the tournament. The cost is $10.
Money Prizes
Through a generous $500 gift from an anonymous sponsor we will be able to offer money prizes in each Section.
In the Open Section, First place will receive $150 and Second place will receive $75.
In the U1600 Section First place will receive $100 and Second place will receive $50.
In the U1300 Section First place will receive $100 and Second place will receive $50.
Trophies
First place and ties in the Open Section will be declared the NC Super Senior State Champion.
First place and ties in the U1600 Section will be declared the NC U1600 Super Senior State Champion.
First place and ties in the U1300 Section will be declared the NC U1300 Super Senior State Champion.
If there is a tie in a Section the winner of the Section by the Modified Median System, will receive a trophy.
Table Prizes
Each Round a small table prize for the winner of each table will be provided.
